Hi Michael!

I think you are amazing! I don't want to live in a country like this
either, and I am not leaving.

My mom (on her annual visit and a day after she turned 58, for her
birthday we went to the movie), my boyfriend a grad student at NAU and I
attended your film opening day. There wasn't as big of a crowd as I
would like to have seen, but I my mom is your biggest recruit, she is
telling everyone she talks to about the Dead Peasant life insurance
policy. I mean everyone she crosses paths with. She told a clerk at a
gas station on the Hopi reservation about it as she was checking out and
he didn't charge her for her coffee, he said, we work for a big company.
You are shaking things up. Thank You. And to your crew and everyone who
helps in this movement.

In solidarity,

Arcata

Mike,
we love your films SO MUCH that the Wednesday before "Capitalism" opened we had a special potluck, and "Sicko" screening.  It got us all fired up, and by the time Friday evening arrived, we were all foaming at the mouth for another Michael Moore film!  People booed, cheered and yelled throughout the film, it was like watching an old-fashioned melodrama.  But best of all was that the entire audience stayed through ALL of the credits and got to hear Merle Haggard doing Woody Guthrie's song.

Some of our group departed before we could get a picture, but L to R are: Carol, Carl, Nate, Martha, Andy, Mark.  (I took the picture).  We live in Arcata, a small city in California known for its political activism and progressive politics.  And nothing makes Arcatans happier than a new Michael Moore film!

Hugs to you, your lovely wife and the fabulous crew who make these documentaries possible.

Berkeley

Greetings from the California Theatre,

We were proud to open Capitalism: A Love Story in Berkeley, CA on 10/02/09. We ran a huge promotion throughout opening weekend to rally the troops. We hung our hand-painted a 20 foot long banner with the movie’s title across our front lobby and showcased the display by hanging gigantic money-bags on either side of the banner. Our staff dressed like bankers, Wall Street brokers, “cash cows”, “fat cats”, and our theater manager even dressed as Michael Moore (complete with the Detroit Lions cap). I’ve attached a few pictures.

At each evening show opening weekend, we gave Capitalism-related prizes to our audiences including Monopoly board games and several $1,000,000 stimulus bills with Obama’s face on the fake bills (courtesy of Games of Berkeley), related DVDs (Fahrenheit 9/11, The Daily Show, The Awful Truth, etc.) donated by Amoeba Records, several left-leaning books on capitalism from Moe’s Books in Berkeley, and lots of “Make Love Not Capitalism” t-shirts and one sheets from Overture Films.

Our patrons and we had a great time, and everyone loved the film and our celebration of it.

We expect Capitalism to play at our theatre for many weeks to come. We are big supporters of Michael Moore and his poignant films. We are always looking to go the extra mile to get people to see socially significant films such as Capitalism.

Thanks for the time and assiduousness that you put into making this movie.

Thank you from all us it's good to finally hear and see the truth. Finally Someone like you is on this earth to document the facts. It is truly a shame our education that the tax payers helped fund to get them through school is working for greedy people who have no conscious. I can not imagine what can possibly can happen when everyones unemployment checks runs out. What then? God help us !

Dear Michael Moore,
You have done it again! Thank you for wiping the collective sand out
of America's eyes and exposing what has really been going on for the
past few decades.  One of the most moving parts for me was the FDR
segment. So sad that in all this time we haven't even come close to
the bill of rights he envisioned! I'm sending pics of my dad and I at

The ironies of life... Went with my capitalist friend Leo Velasco (left) to watch Michael Moore's new documentary, Capitalism: A love story, at the Boca Raton V.I.P. Theaters with lots of Lamborghinis and Ferraris parked outside. It proved my theory that this whole crisis was nothing more than the biggest robbery in history...and they didn't even need to use guns, only our fear...oh and of course, our greed, too. Thanks again Michael Moore!!

Fort Lauderdale

Hello Mike,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have truly outdone yourself. We are so grateful to have you on our side. Attached find some photos from our movie experience. We went to a theater in Fort Lauderdale called Gateway. We chose it because it was 1 of only (I believe) 2 theaters in our county that had the cojones to run Fahrenheit 911. We've since been to this movie house quite a few times for weekend matinees - never had so many people at one before this. There were approximately 40 people at the Sunday, 1:30pm screening. You definitely rocked the house. Although it was a pretty subdued crowd throughout the movie, you got a big round of applause as the credits rolled.

I know how tired you must be of doing this alone. Us 95 percenters want to help! My husband and I want to know how?! Thus far, we have done the following:  1.  registered, active Democrats; 2.  protested at our Federal courthouse against the bailout; 3.  stood in line for 3.5 hours to cast our vote for Obama; 4. attended a rally for the Public Option (even though we really want single payer) carrying signs that said 'As you have done unto the least of these, you have done it unto me --Jesus'; and, in general, do our best to convey the message to our working class peers that the time is now for serious, positive reform, not only in our healthcare system, but in our government as a whole.

Please let us know how and when we can be of help. We love you and pray for you, Mike. God bless you. I only hope that you can wrap your head around how deeply loved and respected you are by so many.

Sincerely,
Lory

Indianapolis

To my hero Michael Moore,

I saw the movie yesterday at the 4pm showing at Landmark's Keystone Art theater, 8702 Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis, Indiana.  It was a blockbuster as I knew it would be and I wanted to see it in the afternoon even if they had to carry me in on a stretcher. I knew if I didn't see it then I'd have to wait for the DVD as I don't venture out in crowds  now without a respirator mask and friends to help me with a walker.

The attached pictures are of me in earlier times and one of me at my 81st birthday along with about 25 friends was back in March at a marvelous little Indianapolis restaurant the J S Reutz Cafe at 2236 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis in the John H. Boner Community Center and his website  www.jsreutz.com has the full details of what they offer. I highly recommend it.

Dear Michael Moore

This is unadulterated fan mail (we've seen all of your movies). My mother
(85 years old) and I saw "Capitalism: A Love Story" at the AMC Columbia 14
Theater at Columbia Mall (Columbia, MD) on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
This is a photo of my mother holding up her ticket inside the theater.
Unfortunately they didn't have a marquee or a poster announcing the move
line-up.

The theater wasn't packed, but I purposefully took my mother to the theater
at an off-peak time. There were probably 50 people in the audience. My
mother and I are both long-time fans. At the end of the movie, when the
credits started rolling, my mother started clapping, and suddenly the whole
theater followed suit, bursting into applause.

You might be interested to know that when I was telling my brother-in-law, a
Republican, about the movie, he concluded that there were several things he
agreed with you on. (On an aside my mother, formerly a lifelong Republican,
changed parties after Jimmy Carter got elected. As for myself, I'm thrilled
that I got to see you speak at Johns Hopkins University several years ago.
My mother hails from your home state of Michigan, having grown up on a farm
in Lake Leelanau, just outside of Traverse City).

Thank you for everyting you've done to educate/enlighten/entertain/inspire
people. Maybe it sounds old, but keep up the good work. Thank you for
telling it like it is. We love you!

Sincerely,

Hey Mike,

My sister Kristine and I went with a friend to see "Capitalism: A Love Story" on Sunday.  We are huge fans of what you do, and always go see your movies during opening weekend.  We went to see it in Sterling Heights at the MJR, just up Van Dyke from the GM Tech Center.  It was shown in theater 13, which I consider a very lucky number.  We liked that that movie listed under yours, was "The Informant" but thought it would have been more ironic if "The Invention of Lying" was either directly above or below it, since capitalism is just a bunch of lies.  Thank you for making this movie and all the movies you have made.  Thank you for caring about your fellow man, something we are taught in church to do.  You rock!  I am ready to come join the fight next to you now that hopefully the rest of America is ready as well.

Hi, Michael Moore. Well, your movie opened tonight at our little not-for-profit, independent, community-supported theatre. We always have a great selection of local concessions, but tonight, in addition to our seasonal beer offerings, we included an October Special of hot apple cider and doughnuts from a local farm supplier. Check us out at Red River Theatres sometime. We'd love to have you come speak to our audience sometime if you ever make it to the area!

We didn't sell out tonight, but had a fairly full house after a long stretch of lackluster attendance in recent months, well, except for the nights when we host community discussions related to what we're showing, like RE-THINK AFGHANISTAN and an Asperger's Discussion with the film ADAM. Those nights do VERY well, so we've been trying to think of the right people to invite to discuss the issues you explore in CAPITALISM. Our biggest "hit" of the summer was FOOD INC, which over 3,000 people came to see! Hope that happens with your movie, too, as word builds that it is right here for all to see. We expect that it will.

I even convinced our self proclaimed "Republican" friend (although I call her a RINO) to come with us and I think she secretly enjoyed it. We had to divide up in two rows because it was a FULL HOUSE and we were there 20 minutes early! We broke into applause after Rep Kaptur's speech. We applauded and got mad...all over again. We loved it. We are spreading the word on facebook and urging people to go see it. One of my friends in these pics, who teaches in D.C./VA, uses your movies in her curriculum. She teaches ESL students from all over the world, and they love your movies too. Keep up the great work riling people up. We have such awful short term memories.... Thank you! Jenn

I had worried that Capitalism wouldnt show in Oklahoma. After all, it was a long time before Sicko came to the heartland. I finally found it listed yesterday, so I put up an event and invited all my democrat friends on Facebook. They shared the news and many came to see it with us. We had a great time. They went off to discuss ways of moving towards to bringing down greedy capitalist through Margarita consumption while plotting.

I went home to put my greedy popcorn consumers to bed since it was past their bed time.

Toy story, Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and Whip it seem to be interesting but people waited outside Capitalism to find out why were so happy and we just told them we loved it!

Great date movie because it makes for excellent conversation.

Montpelier

I've seen your last three films on opening night at this theater, which has been put up for sale due to the difficulties a single screen art theater faces. I am glad that I was able to see it there and I hope that something can be done, so I can see your next great film there as well. Thanks for making a great film. I really enjoyed it, despite it's sad content. Hopefully we can make a change.

Sincerely A Vermont Fan

Michael,

My wife and I saw "Capitalism: A Love Story" at the Sunday 10/4 matinee at the Savoy Theater in beautiful downtown Montpelier, VT.  Great job!

Both my wife and I are Michigander-Flatlanders exiled in Rutland, VT.  We moved to Vermont from Lansing area 14 years ago.  We drove almost 2 hours to get to the film.  We made the same trip to see the opening weekend of Sicko.

While your film covered the "Fall of the Roman Empire", and the "Fall of the American Dream", my wife and I enjoyed the "fall colors" turning on Vermont's Green Mountains.  We saw a full moon over the mountains from I-89 on the way home.  As they say here, "Moonlight In Vermont, or starve".

Wow!  We sure had some Michigan flashback moments.  I attended Catholic elementary school in metro Detroit.  Both my father and my wife's dad worked for General Motors.  Bishop Thomas Gumbleton confirmed me 37 years ago.  When I attended Michigan State, and St. John's Student Parish in East Lansing, Father Peter Doughtery said mass and preached there occasionally.  It was very good see these men alive and well.  Fr. Doughtery and Sister Liz in East Lansing, inspired me to work for peace and justice.  I am currently on the Rutland County committee for "Health Care is a Human Right".  See my T-shirt in photo.

My sister works for GMAC (over 20 years) and is now at the GM HQ (former RenCen) at the Detroit riverfront.  I could tell you some interesting stories since Standard & Poors downgraded GM and Ford to "junk bond" status in May 2005.  My sister keeps me up to date.  There were some sadly-comical things that happened in 2008, before and after the financial collapse.  Nobody has been punished at Standard and Poors and Moody's for giving AAA ratings to credit default swaps, CDOs and mortgage-backed securities (i.e. complex financial instruments)!!!

My wife's father was a WW2 vet, a lifelong Republican, and a UAW electrician in Flint.  He passed away in 1990.  But I remember he proudly displayed a "brick" on his window sill (with small plaque).  This brick came from the factory of the famous 1937 strike in Flint that you covered near the end of the movie.  The brick is now with a nephew in Missoula, MT.

I'm with you man.  I already have withdrew the CD that I had deposited in MBNA (was sold to Bank of America), when it matured in August.  I had reduced my 401K payroll deposits back in 2003 after the Enron / World Com / Tyco / Adelphia malfeasance, and after President Shrub went to Wall Street pledging to clean things up (NOT!).  Earlier this summer, my wife and I reduced our 401K payroll deposits to the minimum level to still get max employer contribution.  I won't gamble on Wall St. (unless my employer kicks in some; it's like my own hedge-fund, but easier to understand).  We're using the after-tax cash to pay down our mortgage, and donate to our church and other local non-profits.  Invest in Main Sreet, Divest from Wall Street!

I have always been blessed with Health Care insurance.  My mother was a cancer survivor several times.  She would have died much younger, and our family would have gone bankrupt if it were not for General Motors sponsored health care insurance.  I always buy USA / GM, as we have many employees and retirees in our families in Michigan.  My wife is a cancer survivor.  She was diagnosed right after we moved to Vermont.  Luckily, my employer provided health care insurance.  So we dodged another bullet.  But I am not so sure we can trust CIGNA or MVP (our current employer-sponsored insurance).

Even though we have been extremely lucky, I know that there are others who have gotten a raw deal.  That is why I am getting involved in Health Care.  There are two universal payer bills in Vermont, H100 / S88, that were left over from last legislative session.  We are holding People's Health Care forums in Rutland 10/6, and all other counties in Vermont.  We can't wait for Senator Baucus and Senator Grassley.  Who let the "Blue Dogs" out?

p.p.s. I used to work for General Motors / EDS in Lansing.  When your "Roger and Me" film came out, Lansing was doing pretty good.  But since then, even Lansing has had GM plant closings.  I could sense this back in the mid-90s, which is why we moved out of Michigan.  I love Michigan, but Vermont is a pretty cool state.  Little did we know that Rutland County was sort of a Republican enclave within Vermont, there are still some many nice people in Rutland area.  Vermont Republicans are somewhat "kinder and gentler" than the rest of their party in other states.  But, I still don't vote for them!

Hi Michael!

Loved the movie! I took my 83 yr old mom with me. We heard this was your best move to date and you didn't disappoint us.

However, St. Catharines was a small city in Ontario, Canada and we went to the matinee so there was only about 30 people there. But that's not bad for a Friday afternoon! So we took our picture at your movie. The first is my Mom (Marg) and I before seeing your movie. You can see we are skeptical. But see how we look afterwards -- a big change, eh?

You rock, Michael -- keep up the good work. All the best.

Sault Ste. Marie

Here's me and my sister at the theater in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario last night.  We're from Sault Ste. Marie, MI, but had to go across the river to see it since the theater over here won't show it (likely related to the wishes of the Chippewa County Republican Party).  As always, tears were brought to my eyes as I watched and I was further inspired to speak out.  Thanks for your voice, Michael!

Hi, Michael,

I'm waiting for the second showing of the night to begin (the first was sold out!). The theatre is steadily filling. Apologies for one of the worst photos taken--yah blurry!

Frankfurt, Germany

Hi Michael,

I thought you would like to know that the banks in Germany are trembling with trepidation about your movie.  In response, a citizens' group (actually, a theatrical group specialized in political satire) has volunteered to defend them and their rights against "terrorists," as you can see from the attached photographs of such an action in Frankfurt, Europe's financial capital. They call themselves "Deutsche Initiative Bankenschutz" (German Initiative for Protection of the Banks). Of course, the police turned up, but because of the "public service" nature of the defense action, no-one got punished.

Jokes aside, we can hardly wait for "Capitalism: A Love Story" to open here in Germany. The banks here had invested heavily in the U.S. banks, and we taxpayers are having to cover their losses. Just like in the USA! Whatever you do, don't shut up!

Michael,

Thank you for this movie! We saw it at an independent theater by us because it didn't make sense to go to a big theater for this movie! As always you opened up America's eyes in a way that no one else will. Thank you again for standing up for average America.

Your fellow proud American,

I don't have a picture in front of the movie theater, but I did go the first chance I had. The room was about 1/3 full at the Friday, Oct 2 12:10 PM show. That is not bad for the time of the day and week. There were several outbursts of applouses.

I am mostly in agreement with you, but if you imply a welfare state as a solution, that does not work either. It too falls victim to abuse. And Capitalism is OK as long as it is not abused and people don't get swindled out of their money.

I guess some compromise might work.

My girlfriends and I went to see the movie and we are very glad we went, we learned some
things and what we learned we were not happy about!  You can believe our conversation
home(we rode together) was HYPED!!!!!

Michael I am your no.1 fan and I support you 150%, you see the sign, YOU THE MAN!!  we are holding, (that's me by myself).

I think you should make a movie about how a wonderful man tries to show people what's going on and how this should make them want to bring about  change and all they do is sit their stupid asses at home or go to see a movie about some damn meatballs!!!!

Yes it is time for a movie to show people how they are a bunch of COWARDS  who will sit and talk about it, but won't be about it!!!!!     The movie theatre should have been sold out!!!!!!!
I LOVE YOU MIKE!!!!  YOU THE MAN!!!!   Another Great Movie!!!
